NJPW G1 Climax 30: Nights 3 / 4 Betting Odds & Tips

avatar Written By Graeme on September 22, 2020

It was a profitable start to the NJPW Betting. We went 2-2 for a profit on night 1, and 1-0 for a profit on night 2.

There was some big upsets to open the tournament. No surprise there honestly. Gedo loves to book them. Two of the biggest favourites lost as Toru Yano at +225 defeated SANADA, and Zack Sabre Jr. at +250 defeated EVIL.

Frustrated I didn’t follow my gut with my Okada losing bet. I felt he would lose that one however I read a story and theory that changed my mind enough that I didn’t bet. Always trust your gut!

Here are the dates of Night 3 and Night 4:

September 23rd: Night 3 (Block A)
September 24th: Night 4 (Block B)

Let’s get right into it:

NJPW G1 Climax Night 3 Betting Odds:

  • Kazuchika Okada (-770) vs Yujiro Takahashi (+400)
  • Minoru Suzuki (-112) vs Taichi (-125)
  • Kota Ibushi (-162) vs Jay White (+115)
  • Will Ospreay (-177) vs Tomohiro Ishii (+125)
  • Shingo Takagi (-190) vs Jeff Cobb (+134)

NJPW G1 Climax Night 3: Block A Betting Tips:

Can Ibushi get a good run going? He defeated Okada and now goes up against Jay White who pulled out the win over Takagi which wasn’t a surprise – it was my biggest betting tip of the night. I’m leaning Ibushi here but at those odds I can’t pull the trigger. No bet.

Will Ospreay is back and jacked. He got a strong win in Night 1 and now everyone who hates him will be excited to see Ishii batter the hell out of him. This is a real clash of styles as these guys fight for the first time ever. I think Ospreay takes it but can’t bet him at those odds.

One with decent odds is Suzuki vs Taichi but I have no bet here. I’ll be rooting for Suzuki but think Taichi takes it.

I predicted Okada would lose on night 1 and would bounce back. I’ve got to think this is where he gets it going and goes on a run. However I have talked myself into a small 1/4u bet on Takahashi. Okada is 3-0 over him plus that Summer Struggle handicap win. I do think this is where Okada turns it around but I’ve weighed it up and feel like it is worth a bet. It would be the upset of upsets and would fit in well.

A buddy said to me on my Jeff Cobb bet and the reasons for it “Japan don’t give a shit about that”. He was right. Last year these two had a hell of a match. Shingo really got the best out of Cobb in that one. This is a real 50/50 match and no bet.

NJPW G1 Climax Night 4 Betting Odds:

  • SANADA (-250) vs Hirooki Goto (+175)
  • Hiroshi Tanahashi (-400) vs Toru Yano (+250)
  • KENTA (-150) vs Juice Robinson (+108)
  • EVIL (-560) vs Yoshi-Hashi (+325)
  • Tetsuya Naito (-250) vs Zack Sabre Jr. (+174)

NJPW G1 Climax Night 4: Block B Betting Tips:

I think Zack Sabre Jr. can continue the upset train. He pulled off the upset last time being able to overcome EVIL and I like him to pull it off against Naito here. 1/4u on Zack Sabre Jr.

EVIL is a massive favourite over Yoshi-Hashi. Props to Yoshi for that performance last time out and I hope he brings it again here. I just can’t see this one being an upset.

One of the most disappointing matches of the first two nights was the KENTA match and I hope we see a better match here. If Juice wins he has the chance of the briefcase. I can’t see it. 1/4u on KENTA.

Nothing for the other two matches. Tanahashi should win as should SANADA. SANADA especially should win after that loss to Yano. I’d freaking love it if Yano won here but I can’t see it.
