NXT Takeover 31 Betting Tips

NXT Takeover 31 takes place on Sunday, October 4th from the WWE Performance Center.

It’s a rare Takeover event as it doesn’t coincide with an actual WWE PPV which is generally standard.

We’ve got a 5 match card with 4 titles on the line. Damien Priest defends against Johnny Gargano and Finn Balor defends against Kyle O’Reilly.

It’s one of those interesting cards where in theory you could justify either person winning but it’s hard to put money on certain people.

I should note that as of this writing, the odds are off the board. They were taken down prior to the NXT Wednesday show and haven’t been added since.

So we’ll have to go with the odds before then. You can check BetOnline to see if the odds are up and what they are. I’ll keep an eye on it and potentially update this if anything changes.

NXT Takeover 31 Betting Odds:

• Kushida (-190) vs Velveteen Dream (+134)
• Finn Balor (-770) vs Kyle O’Reilly (+400)
• Damien Priest (-200) vs Johnny Gargano (+140)
• Io Shirai (-295) vs Candice LeRae (+200)

So first off – can’t see Kyle O’Reilly winning. He just came out of nowhere. Just doesn’t seem to make sense for him to beat Finn at this point It would be a huge upset. Should be a fun match though.

Gargano is basically in there to make Priest look good. I like Priest and gotta think he wins here. However this is one of those 50-50 matches where you could easily bet on Gargano. I’m not going to but if you are looking for an underdog play, this is a good one.

Shirai vs LeRae – I flip flop on this one. I think there is a small small chance that LeRae wins the title. A title change would be nice too. I’m not super confident in it but the odds to me make it worth a 1/4u bet on Candice to win.

I could see Velveteen pulling off the upset. I don’t think his situation backstage seems to have any bearing. He’s the heel who should get what he deserves here but man WWE/NXT book him weird. Another one I think the underdog might win but in this case there isn’t enough value for me.

Well that’s it so far. Hopefully there will be more odds or maybe Dream becomes a big enough underdog to bet on.

October 3rd Update: Candice has moved to +134 and I would no longer advise that bet. Kushida has now moved out to an underdog at +125 and is worth a 1/4u bet.
