It’s time for another WWE PPV and the first in the Roman Reigns era, as we have WWE Payback on May 1st, 2016.

There’s a lot of excitement for this card and no surprise – wrestling on TV has been excellent the past few weeks with some solid storylines and some great matches. We have this one headlined by Roman Reigns vs AJ Styles with a lot of questions and mystery over the main event – if Gallows and Anderson and even Balor are going to team up with AJ to reform Bullet Club, or if they team with Reigns or neither. There’s a lot of potential questions and it’s going to be a very interesting show.

Let’s see what the sportsbooks think:

WWE Payback 2016 Betting Odds:

  • Roman Reigns (-475) vs AJ Styles (+325)
  • Cesaro (-130) vs The Miz (-110)
  • Dean Ambrose (-705) vs Chris Jericho (+435)
  • Sami Zayn (-145) vs Kevin Owens (+105)
  • Charlotte (-305) vs Natalya (+250)
  • The Vaudevillains (-400) vs Enzo Amore/Big Cass (+280)
  • Baron Corbin (-400) vs Dolph Ziggler (+300)
  • Ryback (-215) vs Kalisto (+165)

WWE Payback 2016 Betting Tips & Analysis:

Roman Reigns (-475) vs AJ Styles (+325): Unfortunately this one is unbettable. It’s hard to justify a win for AJ be it cleanly or via DQ. WWE want to keep the title on Reigns and I just can’t see an outcome where AJ wins. Even if Anderson et all interfere for Reigns it seems more likely it’d lead to a win for him.

Cesaro (-130) vs The Miz (-110) This is an extremely interesting one. With these odds we generally have to have a bet. I’m not fully confident but I’m going to take Cesaro with the belief that he can win via DQ or countout here enough times to make it worthwhile. Miz with the belt and Maryse is strong and I can’t see them taking the belt away at this early stage – but with Cesaro so hot at the moment who knows. Either way I think it’s worth a half unit bet on Cesaro at least.

Dean Ambrose (-705) vs Chris Jericho (+435) With Extreme Rules upcoming, it’s possible Jericho gets the win here and loses to Ambrose there. I’ll be placing half a unit on this one.

Sami Zayn (-145) vs Kevin Owens (+105) I’ll be betting a full unit on Owens to take the win here. It just seems right that Zayn loses the first one – we all know his character.

Charlotte (-305) vs Natalya (+250) No bet here. Charlotte should go over. Just can’t see her losing the title until Summerslam.

The Vaudevillains (-400) vs Enzo Amore/Big Cass (+280) Everyones a booker these days eh? If you ever wanted an example of kayfabe being dead it’s this one with everyone already planning it out – Enzo/Cass lose due to Dudleys interference then they feud with them while Vaudevillains go for New Day. Most likely yeah – but maybe the WWE will want to rush the hot Enzo/Cass? I mean battles of the mics with the New Day would be tremendous. While I think the former scenario will happen I’ll risk a quarter unit on Enzo & Big Cass. How ya doin!

Baron Corbin (-400) vs Dolph Ziggler (+300) I personally won’t bet this but if you enjoy betting at -400 odds Corbin is a nice easy one for you.

Ryback (-215) vs Kalisto (+165) Surprised at how heavy a favourite Ryback is. I guess the theory is Kalisto is doing nothing with the title and Ryback will win to feud with one of the many faces? I’ll throw in my own theory – Kalisto retains it and then loses it to a Bullet/Balor Club member to give them a title right off the bat. That’s worth a quarter unit surely.

WWE Payback 2016 Betting Picks:

  1. Cesaro – Half Unit
  2. Chris Jericho – Half Unit
  3. Kevin Owens
  4. Enzo/Cass – Quarter Unit
  5. Kalisto – Quarter Unit
