WWE Summerslam 2017 Betting Tips

It feels like forever since we last had a WWE PPV. I feel spoiled with the one every two week deal.

However we don’t have to wait too much longer as WWE Summerslam 2017 takes place this weekend.

There’s a lot of interesting betting odds on this one with some favourites but nothing too big yet. The show is headlined by Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns vs Samoa Joe vs Braun Strowman for the WWE Universal Championship and they’ve did a great job at giving little winks to the audience about Brock going to UFC.

Shinsuke Nakamura takes on Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship and John Cena takes on Baron Corbin, who recently lost his Money in the Bank contract.

Let’s see where to bet Summerslam and the odds:

WWE Summerslam 2017 Betting Picks:

I’m taking a more casual approach due to not being as up to date as I’d like. These are all 1/4 unit bets for entertainment. More detailed write-ups below.

  1. The Field vs Brock
  2. Alexa Bliss
  3. Natalya
  4. Jordan/Hardy Boyz
  5. The Usos
  6. Randy Orton
  7. John Cena

WWE Summerslam 2017 Betting Tips & Analysis:

Very stacked card. In the last couple of weeks I’ve been away and haven’t had a chance to keep updated. I’ve kept up to date by watching the TV shows but I haven’t been keeping up to date with the latest “dirt news” as much as I’d like.

So I’m taking a more casual approach on this one when it comes to betting. All my bets are a quarter unit.

Brock Lesnar (-300, 1/3) vs Samoa Joe (+325, 13/4) vs Braun Strowman (+1250, 25/2) vs Roman Reigns (+1500, 15/1): You can bet “the field” against Brock and I’m happy with that. I think we’ve got 3 solid contenders here. It’s possible Brock will win of course due to his future appearance and the booking is so hammering us in the face that Brock will lose that it’s likely he’ll win. But at +250 for the field I’m betting the field.

Shinsuke Nakamura (-475, 21/100) vs Jinder Mahal (+325, 13/4): Looks like the WWE India tour isn’t a thing. Funny how so many people acted like it was happening and Mahal would be champ for awhile. Well it looks like Naka is winning here. I’d say if Mahal goes up a bit more he’d be worth a small bet.

Naomi (-250, 2/5) vs Natalya (+175, 7/4): You know I’d normally bet Natalya with how weak Naomi has been but with all that’s going on in the world at the moment, WWE may be happier having a black person as champion. No bet.

Ambrose/Rollins (-300, 1/3) vs Cesaro/Sheamus (+200, 2/1): There’s something about the Ambrose/Rollins relationship I’m not fully buying. I could see them winning the titles for sure but I’m going to refrain from betting this one.

Sasha Banks (-260, 19/50) vs Alexa Bliss (+180, 9/5): I’m quite happy betting Alexa Bliss. She’s been solid in the role as champion and it’s possible we have Bliss vs Jax coming out of Summerslam. Enough doubt to where I’m happy backing Bliss.

Miz/Miztourage (-150, 4/6) vs Jason Jordan/Hardyz (+110): Surprised at this price and I’m quite happy backing Jason Jordan and the Hardy Boyz here.

The New Day (-175, 4/7) vs The Usos (+125, 5/4): I feel the Usos are worth a bet. I just see this feud continuing as both teams are great and them winning the titles gives it life.

Tozawa (-140, 8/11) vs Neville (+100): I’d say if any guy goes over +150 early on bet it. This is a real 50/50 one. I hope WWE keep Tozawa with the title though. No bet.

AJ Styles (-590, 1/6) vs Kevin Owens (+350, 7/2): No bet.

Rusev (-250, 2/5) vs Randy Orton (+175, 7/4): Such a random match. I don’t even really know why this match is happening or why I should care. I’m fine with betting Orton. I’ve won money before when he’s the underdog in random matches like this.

Finn Balor (-1000, 1/10) vs Bray Wyatt (+500, 5/1): Man at that price I’d love to bet Wyatt. However the demon is coming back – you just can’t bet against that. If you want to bet Wyatt for fun, go for it. I don’t hate it. I just can’t advise it or bet it myself. It’s the Demon FFS.

Big Cass (-400, 1/4) vs Big Show (+250, 5/2): Can’t see anything other than Cass winning. No clue the deal with the shark cage gimmick and Enzo. Not worth a bet at those odds for me but if you have no problem with those odds go for it.

John Cena (-225, 4/9) vs Baron Corbin (+165, 13/8): I can’t see Cena doing the job after losing to Nakamura. Corbin is getting punished now and I expect that’ll continue with a loss to Cena. I’m backing Cena.
