NJPW G1 2021: Night 9 & 10 Betting Odds & Tips

Hi everyone,

Night 8 from NJPW is in the books, and we had a big betting upset!

I felt like after his tough matchup with Okada, Yoshi-Hashi would put up another loss so didn’t back him. Instead he pulled off the upset, defeating Taichi.

Yoshi-Hashi was +280, and this is the second biggest upset in this years G1.

The biggest upset is still from Night 1, when Yujiro Takahashi defeated Kota Ibushi.

This was the 8th betting upset in this years G1. Last year saw 18 betting upsets for comparison. After Night 8 last year we had 8 betting upsets so on track to be similar numbers.

Here are the odds for Night 9 & 10 and my NJPW betting tips and as a reminder you can bet the G1 at non-US Sportsbook (Americans: Bet at BetOnline):

NJPW G1 Climax 31 – Night 9 Betting Odds:

  • Great-O-Khan (-112) vs KENTA (-125)
  • Tanga Loa (-106) vs Yujiro Takahashi (-134)
  • Tomohiro Ishii (-118) vs Zack Sabre Jr. (-118)
  • Kota Ibushi (-143) vs Shingo Takagi (+102)

Very interesting odds for Night 9 with no real underdogs. Ibushi looks like he is getting his shit together. The story seems set for Ibushi to go after the arm. 1/4u on Ibushi as he does what it takes to get the win.

Gotta do 1/4u on ZSJ. They’re really making him a star and I feel a loss against a struggling Ishii isn’t great unless they’re actually going with Ishii winning the entire block.

1/4u on Tanga Loa. Hopefully they pull the trigger on him and give him a win this time.

Feel like Great O-Khan gets the win to keep the pressure against ZSJ. 1/4u on him.

NJPW G1 Climax 31 – Night 10 Betting Odds:

  • Hiroshi Tanahashi (-400) vs Chase Owens (+250)
  • EVIL (-278) vs Tama Tonga (+190)
  • Jeff Cobb (-162) vs Taichi (+115)
  • Hirooki Goto (-118) vs Yoshi-Hashi (-118)
  • SANADA (-134) vs Kazuchika Okada (-106)

I don’t hate that Chase Owens price.

Both Okada and Cobb are undefeated, and you have to think there is a good chance they remain that way until their matchup on the 20th.

Of course that’s what Gedo wants you to think so he’ll probably mix it up and have them both lose. Until that happens though, happy to risk 1/2u on Okada at that price.

I think if Cobb loses a match on the way, it could be against Taichi if they are going with Okada winning the other Block. But not at that price.

I feel like at that price I gotta risk something on Goto or Yoshi-Hashi. Goto is 0-4, Yoshi is 1-3. Let’s say 1/4u on Goto.
